A Chic Guide to...Palma

Why go?
Mallorca is an island of charm and character with a range of experiences to suit all needs. The rustic charm of the north west villages, Deia and Valldemossa, contrast vividly with the uber cafe society of Palma; yet both are easily accessible. Often compared to a mini Barcelona, Palma offers hip hotels, chic cafes and fabulous shopping. A compact city, walking is definitely the best way to see it.
Where to stay:
Portixol: On the outskirts of the city, this is one of my favourite hotels. It is a relaxed, unstuffy affair with helpful staff and a great bar and pool area.
Puro: Modern funky hotel in the old town. Well located and it also has a trendy beach club if you’re visiting in the summer.
Tres: In the heart of the old town this is a beautiful building (sometimes used for photo shoots!) and offers a rooftop terrace and splash pool to cool off from sightseeing.

Where to eat:
Fabrica23 In the Santa Catalina district of Palma, Fabrica 23 offers a good value lunch menu (15 euros inc wine)
Simply Fosh Housed in the stylish Hotel Convent de la Missio (in the old town), Simply Fosh offers excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere. Loved it! Also offers a good value lunch menu!
Grab a pizza at Woody’s (just off Paseo) or Diablito (Portixol)
A coffee stop (or cocktail stop!!) has to be Cappuccinos. There are four to choose from in Palma so you’ll have to find your favourite.
Check out Sky Blue Mallorca for more choice.
Chill out at:
Puro Beach, Virtual, Mood Beach, Nassau Beach
If you get the chance (all within easy reach of Palma):
Visit Es Trenc beach and Santanyi, take the tram up to Soller, walk along (bike or skate) the promenade at Portixol, check out the yachts at Portals, have afternoon tea at La Residencia in Deia
Don’t miss:
La Seu Cathedral, The Old Town, Open Air Cinema (in front of the cathedral, summer)
