Siena House

The stunning pool...

After what seemed like an eternity waiting for a hire car followed by a two hour journey it was a relief to see Siena House perched on the top of the hill. Even better, we didn't have to negotiate a long, winding dirt track which has certainly been the case before in Tuscany.

No dark furniture here!

If you judge a place by its welcome then Siena House certainly doesn't disappoint. Amanda and Malvin greeted us warmly and after a glass (or two) of Prosecco we settled into Perugia, our room for the next four nights. I instantly fell in love with this house as it is everything I love in a property, old on the outside and contemporary on the inside. The whole house has been beautifully restored and decorated, offering spacious open plan accommodation. Another string to its bow is the beautiful pool, set away from the house and enjoying far reaching views of the countryside, perfect for lazy days in the sun. With only four rooms you can be as sociable as you want to be, we certainly met some very interesting people.

The lovely Cortona room...Amanda and Malvin know how to look after people and breakfast is definitely worth getting out of bed for. We enjoyed freshly squeezed orange juice,  fruit, homemade bread with honey and ricotta and delicious home baked pear muffins, oh yes and not forgetting scrambled egg and smoked salmon, all accompanied by stunning views of the Tuscan landscape.

Perugia bathroomOur bedroom had all you need, from a spacious bathroom to TV and DVD player as well as excellent free internet access. I couldn't think of anything that was missing. The bed was especially comfortable and the shutters made for an extremely good night's sleep.

Fabulous hosts...Aside from the 'wow factor' interiors, the delightful Tuscan countryside and the fresh produce (tomatoes from the garden etc), what sets this property apart is the hospitality of Malvin and Amanda. Nothing is too much trouble and they both genuinely want to make your holiday memorable. There are so many special touches that I couldn't possibly share, after all there would be no surprises then and that would take all the fun out of it!

Highly recommended.
